This article provides guidance on how to customize the time display in documents generated by HirePOS. If your business does not charge for hires by the hour or minute, you can request the removal of time components from your documents, allowing them to display only the date. This document outlines the steps to make such requests and explains the implications for data entry screens and settings.
Removing Time Components from Documents
If your business model does not involve charging hires by the hour or minute, you have the option to request the removal of time components from your documents. This will enable your documents to display only the date. To initiate this request, follow these steps:
Navigate to Help > Custom Request.
Specify which document you would like the time components removed from, and submit the request.
Impact on Data Entry Screens
It is important to note that the Quote, Booking, and Invoice data entry screens in HirePOS will continue to display times. This is necessary for:
Availability calculations.
Providing an internal guide for the estimated time of delivery or collection.
Adjusting Default Times in Data Entry Screens
You have the option to modify the default times displayed in the data entry screen. To do this, follow these steps:
Go to Setup > Preferences > Hire & Invoice Date Defaults.
Adjust the Default Time From or Default Time To settings as needed.
Alternatively, instead of changing the Default Time To, you can set the Duration.
Calculating Charges Based on Calendar Days
If your business charges based on a time-based selling unit and requires auto-calculation of charges based on the period of hire, you can adjust the Selling Unit settings. To do this:
Change the Selling Unit settings to calculate based on Calendar Days, which will ignore specific times.
