Disconnecting Unwanted Xero Organisations from HirePOS
If you have connected multiple Xero organisations to your HirePOS Xero Exporter you may encounter the following issues:
The Xero button in HirePOS prompts you to “Continue with 2 organisations”
It may be unclear which organisation you are actually exporting to
You are exporting to the wrong Xero file
You cannot deselect an organisation
Export results are incorrect
You encounter repeated errors or export failures in situations where exports usually work fine when connected to only one organisation
This guide explains how to manually disconnect the Xero organisations from within your Xero account.
Why This Happens
When you connect HirePOS to multiple Xero organisations using a single Xero user login, Xero allows the HirePOS app (via oAuth2) to access all those organisations. Unfortunately, Xero does not provide a way to deselect organisations within the Xero "HirePOS wants access to:" interface once connected, which means the only fix is to disconnect them in Xero directly.
Step-by-Step: Disconnect Unwanted Xero Organisations from HirePOS
You will need to repeat this process for each Xero organisation that is currently linked to HirePOS.
1. Log Into the Relevant Xero Organisation
Go to: https://login.xero.com
Switch to the organisation you want to disconnect from HirePOS (if needed, use the org switcher in the top-left corner).
2. Navigate to Connected Apps
Click on your organisation name (top-left) to open the dropdown menu.
Select Settings.
Click the Connected Apps option under the "General" section.
3. Disconnect the HirePOS App
Look for an app called “HirePOS oAuth2”, “HirePOS”, or similar in the list.
Click Disconnect.
Confirm the disconnection when prompted.
This removes HirePOS’s access to this specific Xero organisation.
This action will not cause any loss of data or difficulties in re-connecting in the future. Should you wish to reconnect this organisation, you need only select it from the dropdown list when loading the HirePOS-Xero exporter.
Repeat for All Unwanted Organisations
You must log in and repeat the above steps for each organisation you no longer want connected to HirePOS. Once only the correct organisation remains connected, you should no longer be prompted to “Continue with multiple organisations”.
Final Step: Reconnect via HirePOS
Once you’ve cleaned up the connections:
Open HirePOS
Click the Xero button on the Home screen
Follow the prompts to reauthorize access if required
Choose the correct Xero company file when prompted
Ensure you only select one organisation
Now, you will see "Allow Access" or "Continue with 1 organisation" as the button label to continue on to the exporter (rather than "Continue with multiple organisations" or similar). This is the ideal situation, and will mitigate the issues highlighted at the start of this document (if they were caused by multiple connections).
