Driver Calendar

Overview

The Driver Calendar in HirePOS is a powerful tool that allows businesses to efficiently manage deliveries, pickups, services, and reminders for their fleet. With drag-and-drop functionality, users can easily organize upcoming jobs while maintaining clear visibility into driver assignments and schedules. Completed jobs cannot be rearranged, ensuring accurate historical tracking.

Viewing Options

Users can switch between different views to better manage driver assignments:

  • List View – A straightforward list of all jobs.

  • Day View – Displays scheduled jobs for a single day.

  • Week View – Shows jobs planned for the current week.

  • Fortnight View – Covers a two-week period for better planning.

  • Month View – Provides a broad overview of driver jobs over the month.

Users can navigate through these views using the forward/backward controls, allowing them to step through days, weeks, or months depending on the active filter.

Filtering Options

The Driver Calendar can be filtered to display:

  • Jobs assigned to a specific driver.

  • All scheduled jobs across the fleet.

  • Unallocated jobs (jobs without an assigned driver), allowing for quick and easy assignment.

Settings and Drag-and-Drop Behavior

The Settings button allows users to configure drag-and-drop behavior for on-site service entries. Options include:

  • Updating only the moved service entry.

  • Updating the moved service and all future related services.

This setting must be configured correctly before use to ensure expected system behavior.

Map View and Route Optimization (Auto-Sort)

  • Map Button: Displays a mapped visualization of the driver’s current run. This helps assess route efficiency by identifying straight-line or circular routes versus inefficient zigzag patterns.

  • Auto-Sort Feature: Allows users to optimize a selected driver’s route using one of two methods:

    1. Map Route Method – Uses Microsoft Azure Maps to create the most efficient route based on real-time traffic data, street restrictions, and delivery location details. However, results may vary depending on external data availability.

    2. Lat-Long Method – A simpler approach that calculates the shortest direct distance between all job locations. This method can handle up to 10 jobs at a time and is useful for straightforward distance-based sorting.

Auto-Sort Beta Status

The Auto-Sort feature remains in a long-term beta phase. Due to ongoing evaluations and user feedback, results may be unpredictable. Users are encouraged to verify sorting outcomes before finalizing driver runs.

The Driver Calendar in HirePOS is a versatile tool designed to enhance logistical efficiency. By leveraging its various features, businesses can streamline their fleet management processes, optimize driver assignments, and ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
