Migrating Legacy Cards to Tokenised Card Storage

Edited

This guide provides a step-by-step process for converting previously stored cards using legacy methods to the token-based storage system of Pin Payments. If you have recently migrated to a PCI-compliant card provider like Pin Payments, it is essential to ensure that all customer card information is securely stored in compliance with the token based system.

Identifying Legacy Stored Cards

To determine if a card is stored using the legacy method, navigate to the Sales/Hire > Customer Overview screen. If you see an orange message indicating "Card Stored. Expires d/mm/yyyy" this signifies that the card is still using the legacy storage method. To view the card details, click the Credit Card button. If there is no mention of Pin Payments, the card is indeed stored using the legacy method.

Converting to Pin Payments Storage

To convert the card to Pin Payments token storage, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Save" button located at the bottom-right of the card details popup. This action will initiate the process of storing the card with Pin Payments, which may take a moment.

  2. If a red message appears indicating that the customer’s address, city, or email is required to store cards, click Edit Customer. Update the necessary details in the customer record, save the changes, and return to the Customer Overview screen.

  3. Click the Credit Card button again, and then click Save once more to save the card details to Pin Payments.

Confirmation of Successful Storage

Upon successful storage, the message indicating "Card stored" will change to green and display a shield icon.

To verify that the card is now securely stored with Pin Payments, click the "Credit Card" button again. The card details popup will now display a Pin Payments icon at the top, confirming that the card is securely stored.

Alternative Method for Charging Cards

Another method to charge a card is through the Invoice screen. When you navigate to the Pin Payments screen to charge a card, the legacy card details will automatically display, provided that the customer has the required address, city, and email fields filled in their customer setup details.
You can optionally check the box to store the card details if needed.
Proceed to charge the card as normal.

By following these steps, you can ensure that all customer card information is securely transitioned to the Pin Payments token storage system, maintaining compliance and enhancing security.
