How Lag Time Works

When a customer returns hired equipment, it may need to undergo cleaning or maintenance before it can be rented out again. For instance, if it takes 24 hours to complete these tasks, you can add a 24-hour lag time after the job. During this lag time, the equipment will be unavailable for hire, ensuring it is ready for the next customer.

Adding Lag Time to a Booking

To incorporate lag time into a booking in HirePOS, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Booking/Invoice screen and click on the Other tab.

  2. Locate the Lag Hrs Before and Lag Hrs After fields.

  3. Enter the numeric value for the lag hours.

  4. Check the Reminder checkbox to display the lag time on the Reminders List.

Setting Default Lag Time for All Bookings

To set a default lag time for all new bookings in HirePOS, use the following steps:

  1. Access the main menu strip and navigate to Setup > Preferences > Hire/Invoice Dates.

  2. Enter the desired numeric value in the Default Lag Time Hours Before or After fields.

  3. Click on Save Changes.

  4. Enable the Autocalc Delivery/Pickup dates from Lag Time option to automatically calculate delivery and pickup dates based on the booked period and lag time.
