Partial Returns

This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to process partial returns in HirePOS. There are two primary methods for completing a partial return: using the Returns screen or editing the invoice directly. This document will outline the steps for both methods to ensure a smooth and efficient return process.

Returns screen

The preferred method for processing partial returns is through the Sales/Hire > Returns screen. To efficiently complete a partial return using this method, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Navigate to Sales/Hire > Returns, or click the Returns button from the Reminders List screen.

  2. Select an option to Search By, such as Code, Description, or Invoice/Customer.

  3. Choose the item or invoice you wish to return.

  4. Check the box next to each item being returned. For bulk items, enter the Qty Returned and any quantities that are damaged or disposed of.

  5. Click the Return Items button.

  6. If you wish to continue charging for items that are still On Hire, tick the Re-charge items not returned option. Otherwise, for bulk items, the partial return will be recorded on the same line as the items still on hire.

Invoice screen

Alternatively, you can process a partial return by editing the invoice directly. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. When editing an on-hire invoice, click the Show Line Details link.

  2. Enter a specific Hired To date, which indicates the return date of the items.

  3. After completing a partial return via the Invoice screen, you may need to manually run AutoCalc to calculate the new price based on various factors. Simply press the blue AutoCalc link above the totaling section of the invoice screen.

By following these steps, you can efficiently process partial returns in HirePOS using either the Returns screen or the Invoice screen method.
