In HirePOS, the Other tab in the item setup screen allows you to record miscellaneous information and attributes for your items. This documentation will guide you through setting up vehicle/machinery details, attributes, item length, and using cloud drive links within the system.

Vehicle/Machinery Details

This section is dedicated to recording vehicle or machinery details such as make, model, month made, year made, and registration information. While these fields are informational and do not trigger any actions on their own, they can serve as useful references. The "Rego Due" field generates a reminder when you are within 30 days of the specified date, visible on the reminders screen. Similarly, the "Inspection Due/Warrant of Fitness Due (NZ)" field functions in the same manner as the Rego Due field.

Attributes

The Attributes section includes the item's dimensions, with the Length field being a special case primarily used for fencing hire. For non-fencing items, it is recommended to utilize the Depth field instead of Length.

Item Length

The Item Length feature is typically used for fence hire, where you can set the length against an item (e.g., Fence Panel) and enter the Total Length Required in the Booking/Invoice line to calculate the number of items or panels needed. If the Total Length Required is not necessary on the Booking screen, the Depth field can be used instead.

Setting Up Item Length

  1. From the main menu strip at the top, navigate to Setup > Items.

  2. Select the item you wish to edit.

  3. Click on the Other tab in the item details screen.

  4. Enter a numeric value in the Length field.

  5. Scroll down and click Save Changes.

Enter Length Required for Job

In the Booking/Invoice screen, add the item to the job as usual via the Code column. The Total Length Required section will then appear. Enter the required length, and the Qty/Items value will be automatically calculated based on the panel length and total length required for the job.
