Pin Payments (Payment Link)

Pin Payments provides a flexible platform for accepting card payments from your customers. See the help doc for a general overview on Pin Payments.

The 'Payment Link' is a basic option where you can paste a URL link from Pin Payments (or any other provider) to accept payments. Your customers can click the payment link that appears on your Booking/Invoice template or that you insert into your email templates. This opens the payment providers website where your customer makes the payment. The disadvantage with the payment link is that nothing will be automated in HirePOS, i.e. the payment record will not be auto-created, or a HirePOS receipt will not be sent (the payment provider may send their own receipt).

If you are using Pin Payments, we recommend using the Pin Payment API keys. However do not use these along with the payment link method as well. You must use one or the other.

  1. Log into your Pin Payments portal.
  2. Within the portal, choose the Account menu from the panel on the left side.
  3. From the menu options on the right, choose the Payment Page option that is located under the Payment tools sub-heading.
  4. Set your preferred options, then click the Copy button located to the right of the Payment Page link towards the bottom.

Note: The payment link that you set up will automatically display on your Booking/Invoice template (preview).

  1. From the main menu strip at the top, go to Setup > Preferences > Accounting Integration & Other API's.
  2. Click the Pin Payments menu option to open the Pin Payment Preferences screen.
  3. In the Payment Link field, paste the payment link from the Pin Payments portal (or your own payment provider).
  4. Click the Save Changes button towards the bottom.
  1. From the main menu strip at the top, go to Setup > Preferences > Email Templates & Settings.
  2. At the top right of the Email Message editor, click the Insert Placeholder dropdown.
  3. Choose the Payment Link option to insert the {PaymentLink} placeholder.
You can move the placeholder to anywhere you like in the message. When sending emails, HirePOS will replace the {PaymentLink} placeholder with your actual payment link that you set up previously.
This placeholder can also be inserted into Other Email Templates.

When the payment link is auto-inserted into your email message at the time of emailing (or sending via SMS), HirePOS will add some parameters to the payment link URL.

  • description
The Invoice Number is used as a payment reference.
  • amount
The Invoice Total Amount including tax is used, excluding any commas or currency symbols.

Example payment link URL:

https://pay.pin.net.au/qvxw/test?description=1&amount=1.00
