NAB Transact

NAB Transact can be used for card payments in person, as well as payments made by customers via the {ViewButton} email placeholder. Although customer card details can be 'held', we do not recommend using NAB Direct as they do not offer a tokenised method, and recording the card details is not PCI compliant. Instead, we recommend using Pin Payments.

Set up NAB Transact

  1. From the main menu strip at the top, go to Setup > Preferences > Accounting Integration & Other API's > NAB Transact.
  2. Enter you NAB Merchant ID supplied to you by the NAB bank.
  3. Enter your NAB Password as set up with NAB. This is the password setup for your NAB Transact merchant account, not the password that you use for your online banking.
  4. Default Method is the option you would like the payment record in HirePOS to default to.
  5. Use the Bank Account dropdown to select the bank account that payments will default to. If individual card transactions normally show up directly on your bank statement, then choose your business account. If the card transactions are normally processed by NAB daily in a batch with the bulk amount being transferred to your business account daily, then you would normally set up another bank account in HirePOS to use as a clearing account and record your card transactions against that account.
  6. Click Save Changes.

How to receive a card payment

Card payments are received into HirePOS on an invoice by invoice basis via the Invoice page.

  1. Click the dropdown arrow to the right of the Receive Payment button at the bottom right of the Invoice page.  Select the Card Payment (NAB Transact) option.
  2. Ensure all the payment details are populated.
    Most fields will default accordingly.  The payment will default to the balance due, however can be overwritten if required.
  3. For Deposits and Bonds, card details can be saved for progress or final payment.  Card details should be destroyed after the hire is returned and completed.  This can be done via the Sales page by clicking the Credit Card button, then in the popup click Destroy.
  4. Click Pay Now to receive the card payment.
  5. The payment record is automatically created in HirePOS.
The {ViewButton}
One of the key benefits of using the NAB Transact API is leaving the task of typing in the card details to the customer, to do in their own time. The View Button offers this feature, along with many other benefits. Set up your email templates to use the View Button.
